How to map a Clemson network drive 

Mapping file storage in Windows 7 and 10 for Non-Domain Machines, Mac OS

Note:  Off campus users will need to connect to the Clemson VPN service before following instructions. https://hdkb.clemson.edu/phpkb/article.php?id=64

If your computer is not already connected to the network drive you need to access, here are some of the drives available to Clemson users (depending on your role):

H: \\group.clemson.edu\group  (for employees in some groups)

R: \\software.clemson.edu\software (software repository - available to students, faculty, and staff)

U: \\home.clemson.edu\homes

For others, request information from your group

 

Windows 10:

  • Click File Explorer
  • Select "This PC" in the Left-hand Navigation Pane. If your Navigation Pane is missing, Click View Tab at the top and Click Navigation Pane.
  • Click "Computer" Tab in the Ribbon. If you would like your Ribbon to stay open Double Click Computer Tab.
  • Then click Map Network Drive.
  • Select the drive letter you wish to map the group storage to. 
  • In the folder section type: \\group.clemson.edu\group for H:
  • Check "Reconnect at sign in" if you want it every time you log in
  • Click connect using different credentials. Then a “Windows Security” box should appear, input your university username and password into their respective fields and click OK.
  • Click finish to map the drive.

Windows 7:

  • Open File Explorer by either clicking on the Windows Folder icon or clicking --> Start -->Computer. 
  • Right Click on Computer and then click on "Map network drive... 
  • Select the drive letter you wish to map the group storage to. 
  • In the folder section type: \\group.clemson.edu\group for H:
  • Check "Reconnect at login
  • Click connect using different credentials. Then a “Windows Security” box should appear, input your university username and password into their respective fields and click OK. 
  • Click finish to map the drive.

Mac OS:

  • Mac OS:

  • Open Finder by clicking on the icon.
  • In Finder, click on -->Go -->Connect to Server
  • In the Server Address box type smb://group.clemson.edu/group/pplsoft for Financial information
  • In the Server Address box type smb://group.clemson.edu/group for Department storage
  • Click connect
  • When presented with Login screen enter your Clemson ID and password
