Blended Learning Enabled Classrooms

CCIT and Clemson Online are working to equip Central and Departmental classrooms with video technology over the summer to support teaching and learning in the fall.  Information on locations being equipped and rooms with existing video capabilities will be updated regularly below, along with documentation, photos and other information as it becomes available.

OVERVIEW OF SYSTEM TYPES   

Vaddio USB: These locations will be equipped with an HD pan, tilt, zoom camera and multiple high definition ceiling microphones.  These cameras and microphones will connect, via a USB connection, to a lectern computer available in each location.   Using the computer, an instructor can utilize a variety of video conferencing tools, including Zoom and Webex to facilitate a blended class environment.   The cameras in these locations do not automatically track the presenter, but they do have presets available for various teaching locations and whiteboards.

AVer USB: These locations will be equipped with an HD pan, tilt, zoom camera and a high definition table-top microphone.  These cameras and microphones will connect, via a USB connection, to a lectern computer available in each location.   Using the computer, an instructor can utilize a variety of video conferencing tools, including Zoom and Webex to facilitate a blended class environment.   The cameras in these locations do not automatically track the presenter, but they do have presets available for various teaching locations and whiteboards.

Video Conferencing: Locations with video conferencing will utilize existing HD video conferencing equipment and codecs to facilitate a blended learning environment.  As much as possible, these locations will be prescheduled to record and stream lectures over Zoom or Webex.

USB Cam and Lav Mic: **NOTE** Due to issues with students reading whiteboards and blackboards while the camera is tracking, these cameras have been set to no longer track the presenter.  You can move the camera with the remote control and by using presets on the remote. ** These larger venues will be equipped with an auto-tracking HD pan, tilt, zoom camera and utilize existing microphones.  These cameras and microphones will connect, via a USB connection, to a lectern computer available in each location.   Using the computer, an instructor can utilize a variety of video conferencing tools, including Zoom and Webex to facilitate a blended class environment.   The cameras in these locations will automatically track the presenter and follow as they move between teaching locations and whiteboards.

iPad:  In smaller venues, iPads with Wifi & LTE data will be provided to facilitate labs and small groups.  Zoom, Webex and other video conferencing services can utilize the device's camera and microphones to interact with online student participants.
