OVERVIEW: Windows Updates Schedule
Windows Update for Business
Clemson University managed PCs use Windows Update for Business settings to control delivery of Windows updates. This allows more end user notification and control over when Windows Updates are delivered while allowing CCIT to defer the delivery of the updates for a more stable environment. And, it still ensures critical updates are eventually applied.
There are four deferral groups available which determine the schedule for the updates. These settings have been developed to deliver the latest version of Windows 10 while maintaining compatibility with University Systems. Most managed pcs will be in the WFUB Updates (Standard) group, but there are three other groups available. Contact your IT Support team if you wish to discuss if a deferral group other than WFUB Updates (Standard) is more appropriate for your PC.
Delay and Schedule Windows Updates
Users can delay Windows Update for up to 35 days and schedule when updates are installed. More info at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028233/windows-10-manage-updates
